Terms of service

These terms apply to your AutoTreeGen account: what you may upload, what we do with it, and what we do not promise. They are separate from the terms for the public open-upload surface, which covers sharing a file that may describe other people's families.
Your account and sign-in
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. One person, one account; do not share credentials with someone whose access you would not grant in writing.
What you upload stays yours
Uploading a GEDCOM, a document or a DNA file does not transfer ownership of it to us. You grant us only what is needed to run the service for you: to store, parse, index, analyse and show that data back to you and to anyone you deliberately share a tree with.
Data about living relatives
A family tree is rarely only about you. By uploading you confirm you have a lawful basis to process the information about living people it contains. We help by treating living individuals differently in exports and sharing, but the lawful basis is yours, not ours.
DNA you upload
You may upload only DNA data that is yours, or that you are authorised to act for. Consent is captured before a kit is stored and can be withdrawn; withdrawal closes every read path to that kit. Uploading someone else's DNA without their authority is a breach of these terms and we will act on it.
What the results are — and are not
AutoTreeGen produces evidence-backed hypotheses with a stated confidence, not verified facts. Matches, relationship estimates and record suggestions are research leads to evaluate, not conclusions to rely on for legal, medical, immigration or inheritance decisions. We do not warrant that any conclusion is correct.
Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans are billed through Stripe on the cycle shown at checkout and renew until you cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep the plan until the end of the period you already paid for. Prices and plan contents can change, and we will say so before a change takes effect for you.
Acceptable use
Do not upload data you have no right to, attempt to reach another account's data, scrape the service, or resell access. Do not use the service to build profiles of people for discrimination, surveillance or harassment.
Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time and take your data with you via export. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms or the law, and we will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
Changes to these terms
If we materially change these terms we will publish the new version here with its date, and continued use after that date means you accept them.
