Step-by-step guides4 stepsTrees and GEDCOM
How it works
Step 1 of 4
Export your tree
Export the tree from Ancestry or MyHeritage as a GEDCOM and download the file. A .zip has to be unpacked first.

Why it helps
An upload becomes a job you can watch, so a large file never looks frozen. A job that fails says why on the same page rather than disappearing.
Good to know
A tree above the platform ceiling is refused at the door rather than imported halfway. Above 20,000 people on the free plan only the core is imported and run.
