ReferenceTrees and GEDCOM
Sharing a tree and inviting relatives
A tree is private until you share it. Sharing, in the tree menu, lists who has access and lets the owner invite someone by email with a role: a viewer reads, an editor edits, and only the owner can share or delete. The invitation arrives as an email with a link; opening the link shows the tree name and who invited them, and accepting creates the membership. Someone who does not want more invitations can say so from the same email, and that choice is recorded only when they press the button. Advanced sharing adds a public read-only link and ownership transfer. A public link shows names and years only: no DNA, and living relatives without dates.
