A group label can stand for a branch
Many researchers label matches with letters or colours instead of surnames, for example G, B or S for each grandparent. The platform cannot read a branch from a letter, so in the group panel you can tie a label to an ancestor in your tree. From then on every match carrying that label is placed on that ancestor's branch automatically, with the label named as the reason. The link counts only when the ancestor is one of your own ancestors in the tree linked to the kit. Clearing the link removes the reason; nothing else changes.
