The predicted relationship for each match

What we accept, how a kit is linked to a person, what matches and clusters mean, and where the limits are.

The predicted relationship for each match

The Predicted column shows how you are likely related to a match. When the testing company gave a prediction, that is what you see, and we never change it. When the file has only the shared cM, for example rows that came from a cluster file, the platform works out the likely relationship from the shared cM using the Shared cM Project table. When there is no shared cM at all, the cell says Not enough data. A prediction is a range of possible relationships, not a fact: the same amount of DNA can mean a second cousin or a great-aunt.
